Dig, if you will, a picture of a Prince-inspired makeup collection. Smoky eyeliners, velvety eye shadows, setting powder, and more find a home in gilded leather packaging — all doused in his signature purple and emblazoned with the "Love Symbol," of course. Thanks to Urban Decay and Damaris Lewis, a model and dancer who worked closely with the late musician, that vision has become a reality… for now.
Together, Lewis, Urban Decay, and Prince's estate have collaborated on a limited-edition, seven-piece makeup collection in memory of him and his most iconic works. As Damaris tells Allure, each of these products embodies Prince's work in a different and very special way. "The key elements of Prince's music and personality that Urban Decay brought to this collection, in my opinion, are quality, intention, practice, and not fitting in," she explains.
Widely known as the artist's "Black Muse," Damaris influenced much of Prince's work, but he was just as influential to her — especially when it came to beauty and makeup. "Prince never specifically taught me about beauty and makeup; he rather showed me," Lewis recalls. "He made sure I knew the phrase 'I am' and that the words I choose to come after those phrases in life were also who I was. I am beautiful or I am ugly. Both are me if I choose to be." That, she says, is a mentality she still carries with her every day.
Below is the exclusive reveal of every single product in the Urban Decay x Prince collection, which you can buy individually or in a collector's vault for $250.
Lewis says both of this collection's palettes are every bit as unique as Prince himself was, and it's easy to see what she means by that. Unlike Urban Decay's other eye shadow palettes that hinge open and closed from the top, the black leather packaging that encases this 10-shade palette features two small doors on either side, hinged together by a gold metal fixture in the shape of the "Love Symbol."
A mirror and a close-up photo of one of Prince's dark, alluring, kohl-lined eyes frame the neutral, gold, and purple shadows that lie inside. Formula-wise, you can expect the same buttery, melt-to-the-touch texture that Urban Decay brings to its beloved Naked palettes.
Housed in similar (but purple) packaging to its counterpart, the Let's Go Crazy Eye Shadow Palette is a fitting mix of vibrant pinks, blues, and of, course, purples. This one, as Damaris tells us, is for anyone who knows they were born to stand out. "No legend ever fit in. That is how I see this palette," she muses.
It wouldn't be a Prince makeup line without eyeliner, one of the late artist's most notably used products. This collection has two Kajal pencils: a classic black called So Dark and a pure white, appropriately named When Doves Cry (shown above). While the white pencil is perfect for tightlining the eyes, the black can be used to create Prince's beloved, petite eyeliner wings.
Shea butter gives this soft and subtle highlighter its comfortable feel and hydrating side effect. It's infused with incredibly small flecks of gold glitter that you might miss at first glance — but once they hit direct light, they glow. Don't limit it to just your cheekbones; go wild and slather it on your collarbone and shoulders, too (after seeing it for yourself, you'll definitely want to).
This finely milled and lightly pigmented setting powder conjures a very sweet memory for Lewis. "My fondest memory of Prince and makeup was in 2014 when he asked me to take a selfie in Paris, in his dressing room, while he was doing his makeup. I was shocked but also honored to share that moment," she recalls. "Whenever I see the compact powder, I think of that photo and him powdering his face."
Just as Prince was a multihyphenate when it came to art and music, this makeup brush can do it all for your complexion products. With a medium, tapered handle and short, dense bristles, the Multitasker Brush can buff on foundation, blend your contour, highlight, or anything else you need it to do. It has a small gap in the center you can squeeze your products directly into — perfect for mixing products and getting experimental.

No matter how you use these products, Lewis just hopes you "cherish" them. "We have created this beautiful work because of a man who decided, who knew, he was different and didn't let anyone tell him otherwise," she says. "Remember them on the days you feel left out. Know that you may be the thing you’re looking for that changes the world."
