When Cardi B isn't showing off her a fire wig, working on new music, or sharing her latest Reebok collaboration, the rapper is living it up with her husband, Offset, and taking care of her beautiful baby, Kulture. Like her mother, Kulture likes to stunt for the 'gram with the cutest hairstyles and outfits or make guest appearances in — well, crash — her mother's posts. To keep her daughter's curls moisturized and popping for all those moments in front of the camera, Cardi whips up an all-natural hair mask, which she first shared on Instagram last year.
Back in November 2020, five ingredients — avocado, egg, honey, castor oil, and coconut oil — made up her custom curl treatment. Now, Cardi shared an updated recipe for Kulture's nourishing hair mask on her Instagram Story.
First, Cardi starts off by plopping about half an avocado into a blender. Then she adds two eggs and a heaping spoonful of mayonnaise. (The original recipe contained only one egg and no mayo.) After that, it's time for aloe vera, which is another new addition. As she adds two huge chunks to the blender, Cardi B says in the video, “Warning, this shit stinks like underarm.” (It truly does.)
The last two ingredients for the curl mask are staples from the initial recipe: honey and castor oil. For the former, Cardi says she prefers lots of "raw ass honey" because of how it helps define Kulture's curls. Castor oil, on the other hand, can help condition the hair for added flexibility, cosmetic chemist Perry Romanowski previously told Allure. (We like Rooted Treasure's Organic Jamaican Black Castor Oil.) Cardi simply eyeballs both as she adds them to the blender before blitzing the mixture together for a creamy, dreamy, green treatment.
Unfortunately, Cardi didn't share how she applies the treatment on Kulture's hair, but with all these nourishing ingredients, it just has to be good. We suggest adding it to the hair as a pre-shampoo treatment for luscious, soft hair after you leave the shower.
