When most of us go to buy sex toys, we shop options crafted from silicone and rubber. These materials are supple enough to feel comfortable, sturdy enough to last a while, and—perhaps most importantly—affordable enough to score at budget-friendly price points. But they’re not the only options out there, and they can’t do everything that sex toys crafted from other materials can. Glass sex toys, for example, offer use cases silicone and rubber options simply can’t replicate. Even better: They’re ridiculously easy to clean and incredibly pretty to look at — and they tend to be priced fairly affordably, too.
Very few of us would refer to our go-to sex toys as “cute.” But spend a little time perusing the internet’s glass sex toy selection, and you’ll realize sex toys can be cute and they can also be downright beautiful. Glass sex toys tend to feature subtle curves, delicate colors, and dynamic textures that leave them looking like veritable works of art. Most sex toys ask to be hidden inside a drawer where no one will ever find them, but glass sex toys are so stunning they practically demand an audience. (Seriously, don’t be surprised if you find yourself as tempted to stare at your favorite glass dildo as you are to use it.)
Of course, looks aren’t the only thing glass sex toys have to offer. Since they’re thick and sturdy, they tend to be pretty durable (read: long-lasting). So once you find one you love, you won’t have to worry about replacing it after a couple years of use. The material is also generally hypoallergenic and easy to clean, and it pairs well with just about every lube on the market. While you have to worry about silicone-based lubes degrading silicone-based toys, you’d be hard-pressed to find a lube that can erode glass.
Glass sex toys’ biggest selling point, though, is that they lend themselves well to temperature play. You can heat them with hot water or chill them in your fridge to experiment with variously warm and cool sensations. Most of us have grown accustomed to the idea that sex toys operate at one temperature—room temperature—but glass sex toys open up entire worlds of stimulation we had no idea it was possible to achieve. No, they won’t replace your favorite vibrator (they’re not electronic, so they can’t vibrate). But they can make a useful addition to your sex toy repertoire—offering you things other toys simply can’t.
