Prince Charles tested positive for COVID-19 a second time, raising concerns about the health of Queen Elizabeth, The New York Times reported.

He had a mild case of COVID-19 in March 2020 before vaccines were available, the BBC reported at the time. His representatives have not commented whether he’s showing symptoms this time.

Charles, 73, saw his mother on Tuesday at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, The Times said. It’s not clear if he met with her more recently.

The 95-year-old queen has shown no COVID symptoms but is being closely observed, The Times said, citing a Buckingham Palace official. The queen is vaccinated, but the official didn’t say if she’s been tested recently.

Charles tested positive on Thursday, The Times said, citing his household, Clarence House.

Charles posted on his official Twitter feed: “This morning the Prince of Wales has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating. HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today’s events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible.”

Charles and his wife, Camilla, attended a reception on Wednesday at The British Museum, The Times said. Camilla tested negative and has not called off any public appearances, Clarence House said.

Charles has said he’s fully vaccinated and boosted, The Times said. The Queen received a vaccine dose in January 2021 though it’s not known if she’s been boosted.

Her husband, Prince Philip, died in April 2021 at the age of 99, and the Queen had to isolate herself at the funeral service because of COVID.
