The coronavirus pandemic has made us reevaluate what’s important in life – and being happy is now top of the list for many.
However, there are so many different areas of our lives that bring us happiness – from family and friends, to work and hobbies.
Also where we are living can be a key role in this.
New research from Shawbrook Bank has revealed the happiest places in the UK to both live and work – by taking into account all sorts of factors such as salary, green spaces and more.
Anyone looking for the perfect work-life blend might want to consider relocating to Aberdeen – as this port city topped the list.
In this spot, weekly working hours are 0.4 hours less than the average, with commute time also lower by 13 minutes. What’s more, average monthly salary is £2,304.55 – which is £354.55 higher than the UK average.
London placed second in the work-life happiness rankings, with the best average monthly salary at £3,146.46 and a typical commute coming in at 25 minutes.
Belfast took third position, with a working week two hours shorter than UK average. Likewise, Brighton came in fourth with a 23-minute commute time and a £2,076.92 average pay packet.
Best UK cities for work-life happiness:
Shawbrook Bank also looked into which UK cities were best solely for happiness, by analysing elements such as crime rate, number of takeaways, number of parks, house prices and more.
Interestingly, Scotland and Ireland still dominate – as Aberdeen holds onto the top spot in these overall rankings and Belfast moves up to second place.
The former boasts plenty of reasons to smile with 17.39 hours of daylight and a low crime rate, along with 72 takeaways and 14 parks.
Whereas the Irish city – despite having a higher crime rate – offers lower house prices and more takeaways and parks.
Sunderland ranks third – the highest of any English city – and despite London doing well for work happiness, it doesn’t make it onto this wider top 15.
