Mouth cancer: What are the causes and symptoms?
Anyone can get mouth cancer, but the risk increases with age, with most people diagnosed between the ages of 66 and 70.
The Director and Principal dentist at Serene Dental Knightsbridge, Dr Safa pointed out the symptoms of mouth cancer to spot.
“I urge you to prioritise early detection and routine check-ups with a dentist,” said Dr Safa.
“The first signs and symptoms [of mouth cancer] should not be ignored.”
Be wary of persistent mouth ulcers, said Dr Safa, as they could be one of the first signs of mouth cancer.

Another visible sign to pay attention to is the appearance of red or white patches in the mouth.
Mouth cancer could also cause “unexplained pain or numbness” inside of the mouth.
The disease may also lead to difficulty chewing, swallowing, or speaking.
Dr Safa said hoarseness or a persistent sore throat could be indicative of a growing tumour.
