Linda Lusardi health latest: 80s page 3 model reveals her first coronavirus symptoms

Linda Lusardi was a pinup in the late 70s and 80s, having been a page 3 girl for The Sun. After stepping down from modelling, Linda remained in the limelight, featuring on a number of popular TV shows such as Emmerdale and ITV’s Loose Women. The former page 3 model is returning to Loose Women today but her presence on the show is bound to attract interest for a different reason.

Linda has recently opened up about her traumatic battle with COVID-19, a deadly new disease that has forced the UK and much of the world into lockdown.

The former Page 3 girl was hospitalised and and one at point, her chances of survival was thrown into question.

Fortunately, Linda is now out of the hospital but she spoke about her traumatic ordeal on Good Morning Britain last month.

Linda revealed the severe symptoms she and her husband initially experienced, adding that she was told she didn’t have coronavirus symptoms at first.

“We were in separate rooms, we were vomiting and had diarrhoea,’ Linda told hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

She continued: “When we phoned 111 they said they are not symptoms of Corona, which they weren’t at the time… we carried on battling through. They said paracetamol, drink plenty of water.”

This advice proved futile as every time Linda drank water, she would throw it up.

In addition to experiencing digestive complaints, the former page 3 model was also “breathless and getting quite severe chest pains”.

After two ambulance drivers ran tests on Linda and her husband, it was revealed she had “practically zero oxygen in my blood” and was whisked off to hospital soon after.

Doctors then gave Linda the fateful news that they couldn’t promise she would survive COVID-19.

Linda’s first warning sign diarrhoea is not formally recognised by the NHS but studies show that it is prevalent amongst COVID-19 patients.

In a retrospective study in the Nord Franche-Comté hospital conducted between March 1st and March 17th 2020, and compared to the review of Li et al., diarrhoea was a main symptom in patients with COVID-19.

Out of the 114 patients, 55 (48 percent) had diarrhoea; it was the fifth most common symptom.

Interestingly, in the group of patients with diarrhoea the median age was 56 years and over half were female.

What else did the study reveal?

Diarrhoea appeared 4.5 days after the onset of the first other symptoms in COVID-19.

Of the 55 patients with diarrhoea, 29 had at least one simultaneous gastrointestinal (GI) symptom other than diarrhoea.

Twenty-five patients had nausea, 19 patients had abdominal pain and had vomiting.

What should you do if you experience these symptoms?

According to the NHS, you should self-isolate for seven days from the moment symptoms appear.

“Anyone who does not have symptoms should self-isolate for 14 days from when the first person in your home started having symptoms,” notes the health body.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms are mild or serious, use the 111 online coronavirus service.
